Matt Wertz
Analog at Hutton Hotel
ABOUT MATT WERTZ
A self-made singer/songwriter, Matt Wertz spent years creating soulful, feel-good pop music on his own terms. Nashville — a city that doubled as his muse and adopted hometown — always played a big role in that creation process. It was the place where Wertz wrote his songs, the place he recorded his albums, the place he’d return after touring the country with songwriters like Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, Parachute, and Gavin DeGraw.
Something changed after 2014’s Heatwave, a record that shone a neon light on Wertz’s appreciation for ’80s pop music. Wertz realized he’d grown perhaps a bit too comfortable in Nashville, where he’d been making music for more than a decade. Looking to write an album that tackled contemporary pop music from a different angle — literally — he headed to Los Angeles, where he spent several months writing songs for his ninth album, Gun Shy. Fueled by infectious, 90s-inspired beats, lush textures, and soaring air-tight pop melodies, Gun Shy fires twin barrels of modern pop and synthesized R&B, finding new life in old-school influences.
“I realized I’d been making records in a similar way in the same geographic area,” Wertz admits, “and I wanted to get away from that comfort zone. I personally was needing a fresh approach — to pull the clip on the grenade and blow things up and start over. I’m a fan of current pop music, and L.A. is very much about what’s happening now. I wanted to see how my music fit into that space.”
Filled with left-field love songs about guarding yourself, opening your heart to new possibilities, and wrestling with the sacrifice and vulnerability that love requires of everyone, Gun Shy finds Wertz urging his listeners — and, perhaps, himself — to continue taking leaps. It’s an album about stepping into unfamiliar situations, armed with the courage to fail and the drive to succeed. On “Committed,” the album’s kickoff track, Wertz rededicates himself to the artistic struggle, and with “Slow Motion,” he focuses his attention on a loved one by clearing away the clutter and distractions of everyday life. Later, during “Hold On To Me,” he channels his inner Michael Jackson on a song that poses some of the biggest questions of his career: why we’re here, who put us there, and what it all means. A longtime member of Nashville’s songwriting community, Wertz teams up with some of L.A.’s A-list pop writers for Gun Shy, including Ian Keaggy (Hot Chelle Rae, Cody Simpson), Ben Romans (The Click Five, Carly Rae Jepsen), and Seth Jones (Greg Holden, Tyler Bryant).
More than a decade into a career filled with commercial success and touring milestones, Matt Wertz remains proud to be an independent singer/songwriter. But don’t mistake Gun Shy for the sort of intimate album you’d hear at your local coffee shop. These are not acoustic guitar songs. They’re songs built on laptops and driven forward by dance beats. Songs that move you physically and emotionally. Songs that splash Wertz’s super-sized hooks across the backdrop of the Los Angeles skyline, creating their own brand of scenery along the way.

Everette – Bread & Butter Jam with special guests Makayla Lynn, Bryan Simpson & Brit Taylor
Analog at Hutton Hotel
ABOUT EVERETTE
Rooted in country, rock & roll, southern storytelling, and heartland hooks, Everette is glued together by two Kentucky natives who write their own songs, play their own instruments, and proudly blur the boundaries between themselves and their audience. For the boys, music is all about community. It’s about connection. That’s why the duo’s motto — “We are Everette” — isn’t just a statement about the musical bond shared by bandmates Brent Rupard and Anthony Olympia. It’s a reference to the communal bonds they share with their fans, too.
Years before crystallizing their sound with Kings of the Dairy Queen Parking Lot — a 14-song project produced by Luke Laird and split into two volumes, titled Side A and Side B — Brent and Anthony met in their early 20s in their hometown of Bullitt County, Kentucky. The two began writing songs together, taking inspiration not only from the artists they both loved — including Tom Petty, the Eagles, and Randy Travis — but also from their individual record collections. “It’s like a Venn diagram,” Anthony says of Everette’s unique sound. “There’s a lot of music we share in the center, but there’s a lot we don’t share, too. It’s yin and yang. It’s a mixture of everything.”
Before moving to Nashville and officially forming Everette — named after George Clooney’s philosophy-spouting, a folk-singing character in O Brother, Where Art Thou? — the musicians both headed to Bowling Green, Kentucky, where they cut their teeth playing four shows a week while attending Western Kentucky University. Bowling Green was a diverse city, and the duo’s concerts became a melting pot not only of different sounds but of different walks of life, too. “Our shows became this place where bikers, hippies, college kids, white-collar, and blue-collar Kentuckians all came together. We fit in with all of those people, and they fit in with us, too.” It was the pair’s first time witnessing the kind of community that would eventually rally around Everette’s salt-of-the-earth songwriting and top-shelf musicianship.
That community truly blossomed in Nashville, where Brent and Anthony headed after graduation. There, they began performing together as Everette, combining years of friendship into collaborative songs that told universal stories about love, family, long days, and wild nights. They officially unveiled that sound with their 2018 debut EP, Slow Roll, but it was Kings of the Dairy Queen Parking Lot that showcased the full range of their songwriting. Brent and Anthony co-wrote all 14 songs on Side A and Side B, teaming up with collaborators like Bryan Simpson, the Warren Brothers, Brent Cobb, Matt Jenkins, and Bobby Pinson along the way. Before recording those songs with Grammy-winning producer Luke Laird, they whittled them into shape during a monthly residency at the Springwater Supper Club & Lounge, a no-frills dive bar sporting one of Nashville’s smallest stages.
ABOUT MAKAYLA LYNN
Named by Rolling Stone Magazine as a new artist you need to know, Canadian-born Makayla Lynn is a fresh face exploding into the Nashville scene. She has spent time at #1 on CMT’s 12 Pack Countdown and is a two-time East Coast Music Award winner in Canada. Releasing a record with Grammy Award-winning producer Keith Stegall and his daughter Jen Stegall, Makayla’s growth as a songwriter and music-maker through her young years has allowed her artistry to settle into its place in the world of Country/Americana storytellers much like her influences.
ABOUT BRYAN SIMPSON
Bryan Simpson is an American singer-songwriter from Fort Worth, Texas, who is based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Simpson is best known for his solo output as the Whistles & The Bells, his work as a founding member of Cadillac Sky, and the songs he has written for artists including Tim McGraw and Joe Nichols.
ABOUT BRIT TAYLOR
In a town known for dealing hard knocks, country singer/songwriter Brit Taylor hasn’t flinched. After a decade “of playing by the rules”, she broke out on her own and, in less than a year, released her debut album Real Me in 2020, followed by Real Me Deluxe in 2021, and she has already written and recorded her next album, Kentucky Blue, scheduled for release early next year. Her highly acclaimed debut album Real Me (opening after just 10 days as the highest-ranking debut album on the AMA/CDX Radio Chart at No. 37 and receiving positive reviews from American Songwriter, Rolling Stone, NPR’s World Cafe, and others) was a self-reflective journey to self-awareness from the depths of despair. Her anticipated new album, produced by Grammy winners Sturgill Simpson and David Ferguson, is a happier, more upbeat record, simply reflecting her life today.

The Steel Wheels
Analog at Hutton Hotel
The Steel Wheels have long been at home in the creative space between tradition and innovation, informed by the familiar sounds of the Virginia mountains where the band was formed, but always moving forward with insightful lyrics and an evolving sound. In 2005, Jay Lapp (vocals, guitars, mandolin) and Eric Brubaker (vocals, fiddle) joined lead singer Trent Wagler (guitar, banjo) in forming the band as a vehicle for Wagler’s songwriting. They released several albums under Wagler’s moniker, before officially adopting The Steel Wheels name with the 2010 release of Red Wing. Quickly staking their claim as independent upstarts in the burgeoning Americana scene, The Steel Wheels followed up this release with three more self-produced albums in the next five years, before joining forces with producer Sam Kassirer for Wild As We Came Here (2017) and Over The Trees (2019). Kevin Garcia (drums, percussion, keys) joined in 2017, bringing a new level of sonic depth and polish to the outfit.
Newest member Jeremy Darrow rounds out the rhythm section and grounds the band as they continue to explore deeply rooted yet fresh folk-rock sounds. Having gained the experience of thousands of shows, festivals, and many miles on the road, the stubbornly independent band has formed deep bonds with each other and the audience that sustains them.
The Steel Wheels have responded to this time of isolation and loss by seeking to connect with their audience in new ways. In 2020, unable to perform their rootsy brand of Americana for crowds in live settings, the musicians turned their creative powers to crafting songs for individuals. Produced in isolation in the band’s home studios, the Everyone a Song albums are part of an ongoing project to collect the personal experiences of fans and forge them into that most enduring, yet ephemeral, format we call “song.” An accompanying podcast, We Made You a Song, explores the stories behind these songs, and the songwriting process itself. While each song was commissioned to honor a specific relationship or event—a birth, a wedding, a memory of home—the emotions evoked are universal.
Nowhere is this shared humanity more evident than at the band’s own Red Wing Roots Music Festival, a weekend-long celebration of music, community, and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Hosted by The Steel Wheels every summer, the festival provides a space for the band to shine, from their high-energy Saturday night main stage set to their afternoon showcase with young Red Wing Academy students. At Sunday’s gospel hour you are as likely to hear Steel Wheels originals or Warren Zevon covers as you are traditional gospel fare. The weekend is rounded out by the beloved tribute set in which the band collaborates with a cadre of fellow artists to honor an influential figure in American music, with past tributes ranging from Dolly Parton to John Prine.
Whether at a joyous summer festival, in their many shows across the country and beyond, or in the studio, The Steel Wheels continue their mission set out over a decade ago; shaking up traditions to see what sticks, telling stories, and joining communities through song.

Country Music’s top songwriters live from Analog at The Hutton Hotel!
Dave Kennedy is a storyteller above all else, and it’s easy to see why. His songs paint a cinematic portrait of America as his characters journey through love, heartbreak, humor, sin, redemption, revenge, and perhaps even a few of the songwriter’s own footsteps along the way. Bringing these songs to life is a voice so soaring and powerful you can’t help but be swept away into his world by the end of the first chorus. He navigates his way through each story and each world with a dynamic presence of both strength and subtlety that appreciates both the peaks and the valleys, the highways and the backroads, the loves lost and lingering in his mind. It’s for all these reasons that Dave has a reputation as one of Nashville’s most respected songwriters and artists, and why artists like Travis Tritt, Riley Green, Whiskey Myers, Drake White, Larry Fleet, and others are eager to continue writing and performing with Dave Kennedy. Jeff Plankenhorn
Analog at Hutton Hotel
Jeff Plankenhorn’s songwriting, expressive vocals, and musicianship are front and center on his latest album, Alone At Sea, produced by Colin Linden (Bruce Cockburn, Keb Mo.) New sonic territory is explored on this gem of a long player.
The title track, “Alone at Sea,” is a poignant ballad nestled between two of the album’s many up-tempo tunes. It envisions an adventurous soul who’s searching for self-awareness and learns to appreciate solitude, not unlike Plank’s experience of moving to Canada’s Vancouver Island from a 20-year stint in the landlocked confines of Austin, TX.
For Jeff Plankenhorn, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of bringing people together to experience the joy music brings. He’s so good at it that he’s been recognized with Austin Music Award nominations for Musician of the Year, Best Guitarist, and Best Misc. Instrument – for “The Plank” a hybrid lap steel guitar Jeff designed himself. In 2016-2017, he also earned Album and Song of the Year nominations for his album, SoulSlide, and the single “Trouble Find Me.” Listeners quickly get that Plank loves a good groove, but he’s also become quite accomplished at composing ballads, as proven by two of the album’s other standouts, “Bluer Skies” and You’ll Stay.” These days, Plank happily finds himself on the road over 150 days a year. “I like the idea that people get uplifted at my shows; there are many ways to escape the hubbub of day-to-day living. Dancing is one of the more noble and effective, better than any drug I’ve tried. I like the idea that everybody who walks in — I don’t care if you’re a biker or a drag queen — I want you there. Music is supposed to bring people together.” His music does exactly that — whether people come to listen or do a little dancing. Or ideally, both.

O.N.E The Duo
Analog at Hutton Hotel
ABOUT O.N.E The Duo
Roughly halfway into their seven-year-long quest for country music stardom and globetrotting mother-daughter act O.N.E the Duo finally arrived in Nashville. Then COVID-19 struck.
However, undeterred, within a year, their tireless, Barbara Mandrell-style work ethic, rugged yet smooth presentation reminiscent of Miranda Lambert, and Judds-style pitch-perfect harmonies have earned them co-signs from Rolling Stone, CMT, and the Country Music Association.
Tekitha and Prana Supreme — daughter of Tekitha and RZA, de-facto leader of Wu-Tang Clan — have been collaborating since 2018, though they did tour as a duo in 2016 as part of an ensemble cast (Love Jones the Musical).
Tekitha is an accomplished vocalist in her own right and counts a decade-plus worldwide run recording and touring with the groundbreaking rap group in her musical lineage.
Prana was born in 2000. Thus, she’s a child of the modern era. However, she also has a musical intelligence, sensitivity to humanity, and goal-focused demeanor that make her timelessly prodigal like every country icon from Brenda Lee to Taylor Swift.
Their cosmopolitan blend of country swagger and hip-hop cool is unprecedented. It was born during living room jam sessions where guitar picking, handclaps, and rootsy acoustic stylings were the norm. What you hear today is a fusion of their past and present with a new vision for country music.
Quickly, though independent artists, they have already compiled a completed album’s worth of work. In addition, they have been authentically accepted into many legendary Nashville A-list circles working with a team with peerless music industry experience.
This includes the likes of their manager Renee Bell (industry veteran who A&R’d artists including Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, The Mavericks), producers Dann Huff (Lonestar’s “Amazed,” currently working with Kane Brown, Thomas Rhett, and numerous others) and Brent Maher (The Judds entire album catalog), songwriters Shane Stevens (co-writer, Walker Hayes’ “Fancy Like”), Nash Overstreet (Hot Chelle Rae, American Music Award, two-time BMI Pop award winner) plus Rebecca Lynn Howard, Elisha Hoffman, Bar None, John Bettis, Marv Green, Joe Robinson.
Country music is entering an age where radio’s respected, controlled environment shares relevancy with streaming’s genre-free wild west sensibilities. Therefore, a duo equally passionate and conversant in the catalogs of Chris Stapleton and Kendrick Lamar is vital to country music’s future because they respect its past and have already long-embraced its present.
Named to CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2023, the duo’s future sees them building from the critical success of singles “Guilty” and “River of Sins,” plus having already played the stage of the historic Ryman Auditorium. Now, they’re using their growing and well-studied love of country music to achieve, claiming the space they are due and expanding within it.

BERTHA is the world’s first Grateful Drag band. An all-star collective of female, queer and allied East Nashville musicians, coming together in wigs and full face for a good cause. Fronted by a harmony trio of Berthas and backed by a rocking all-Bertha band, their origin story is said to be as follows:
In the mid 1990’s, just after Jerry Garcia’s tragic and untimely demise, a deadhead janitor working at Area 51 gained access to top secret time travel technology and took it upon himself to retrieve Jerry’s severed middle finger at the moment he lost it in 1946. He thought, if he could just get the DNA to the right scientists, cloning technology might one day be able to bring Jerry back. Breakthroughs in the early 2000’s found that a compound in LSD could activate dormant genes to replicate sufficiently to grow a functioning human body in a lab. The theory was: if they could mix Jerry’s DNA with the original Owsley acid, it could create a Jerry clone that would reunite the Grateful Dead to continue their “long strange trip”. Unfortunately, they mixed up the vials and the first seven clones were the bastard children of Jerry’s finger DNA and the infamous Brown Acid. These pitiful yet beautiful creatures were musical mutants, with the chops of their father but a physical form all but unseen in the jam band world – that of a woman. After being cast out of the lab, and the experiment shut down as a failure, these orphan queens each took the name BERTHA in solidarity with one another and formed a band.

Country Music’s top songwriters live from Analog at The Hutton Hotel!
Dave Kennedy is a storyteller above all else, and it’s easy to see why. His songs paint a cinematic portrait of America as his characters journey through love, heartbreak, humor, sin, redemption, revenge and perhaps even a few of the songwriter’s own footsteps along the way. It’s for all these reasons that Dave has a reputation as one of Nashville’s most respected songwriters and artists, and why artists like Travis Tritt, Riley Green, Whiskey Myers, Drake White, Larry Fleet and others are eager to continue writing and performing with Dave Kennedy.
