When Brian Sexton, President of Creatives’ Day, founded the non-profit in 2016, it was with the vision that creative artists could possess the keys to create opportunities of economic empowerment for themselves. Creatives’ Day helps them achieve this today by connecting emerging artists throughout the city and providing them with platforms to celebrate their innate talent, vision, and innovation through collaboration.
In the spirit of supporting the arts in the Nashville community, Hutton Hotel reached out to offer our Writers Studio spaces, through a program where emerging local musicians can create original work with no studio cost. Now in its third class, the first two groups of artists that participated in the Creatives’ Day Residency were Morgan Bosman, Rashad thaPoet, Emma Dilemma, Caleb Bowers, Roz, Micah Redd, Trisha Alicia and Chuck Indigo. Both residencies concluded with a live performance from participating artists at Hutton Hotel’s entertainment venue, Analog.
With the success stemming from the last residencies of songwriters, Hutton Hotel welcomes a brand new class of four artists participating in the 2019 Creatives’ Day Residency. Jamiah Hudson, Lauren McClinton, Bryant Taylorr and Tim Gent will receive eight hours per month, over the course of four months to use the Writers Studios to write, record and produce original work alongside sound engineers Kenon Ewing and Patrick Brooks, who have donated their time. Jamiah Hudson is an R&B/Pop singer and songwriter from Augusta, Georgia. Her love for music began as a toddler, singing at the age of two and leading songs in her church choir by age 5. She moved to Nashville at the age of 17 to focus on her music and songwriting career. Since then, she has performed all around Nashville and has also connected and written with numerous artists, songwriters and producers. She recently released her debut EP titled “22”. Lauren McClinton is a neo-soul/ R&B singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, CA who’s always known that music was her calling. Joining the Fisk Jubilee Singers in 2013, the singer got her first taste of international musicianship, traveling globally with the historic group. Lauren continues to prove herself as an artist to watch, boasting several local performances, writing credits, features, and invitations to open for seasoned artists, like Tank and India Arie. Now recording her debut project, releasing this summer, Lauren McClinton aims to continue to foster real, personal music any opportunity she can.
Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Bryant Taylorr, is one of Nashville’s most promising entertainers. Captivating his audience with his melodies and alternative R&B music, it’s clear that he is a creative force to be reckoned with. Bryant continues to gain his die hard fan base with every incredible performance and each lyric that connects his listeners. Bryant Taylorr’s most recent project “Juice” can be streamed and downloaded on SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Tidal.
Tim Gent is a 25 year old artist from Clarksville, Tennessee who has been making a name for himself since the release of his 2015 mix tape “Clarksville Nights.” After appearing on Case Arnold’s debut album ‘SO(U)L Theory,’ Tim continued seeing success with the release of his first fully-distributed single “Lady America.” The track garnered heavy attention across many online outlets, charted #1 on Spotify’s United States Viral 50, and recently earned Tim a spot as one of the only up and coming artists on Spotify’s new Patriotic Passion playlist. After spending the 2nd half of 2017 releasing a string of singles, Tim started garnering even more of an online buzz, which led to features from Hot New Hip Hop, Sway’s Universe, The Tennessean, and a full length interview with NPR: World Cafe. The end of 2018 brought the release of Tim’s new album Life Away From Home, which has been well-received by fans and critics alike.
