Hotels Participate in Earth Hour
NASHVILLE, TN— Hotels around the country, including Nashville, turned off their lights for an hour on Saturday night in an effort to promote awareness of climate change.
At the new Hutton Hotel here, for example, management informed guests of the Earth Hour effort, which was sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund, on Friday night via a letter under guestroom doors.
The hotel itself turned off all lights not considered a life safety necessity, including overhead signage. Guests were encouraged to turn off any guestroom lights they weren't using during the hour. The six-week-old Hutton is positioned as an eco-friendly hotel complete with numerous energy saving measures. Natural elements, including stone and bamboo, were heavily used in the design of guestrooms and public spaces.
